In recent years we've seen lots of big name celebrities launching their own range of skincare, make up and hair products, and with their significant reach and influence (not to mention money and marketeing experts) their brands can hit the market hard and fast. And what's great about that for those of us who insist on using vegan and cruelty free products, is that many of them are supporting larger movements to protect animals, reduce environmental harm and challenge exploitation. These brands can provide luxury, high quality products with the temptation of attaining a celebrity look - after all who doesn't want hair like Jennifer Aniston...?
So lets dip our manicured toes into the world of vegan and cruelty free celebrity brands!
LolaVie - Jennifer Aniston
LolaVie is the award winning haircare brand from Jennifer Aniston (well of course she has her own haircare brand!). Using plant based ingredients such as bamboo for strength and lemon for shine, the full range of products are leaping bunny approved. All their products are cruelty-free, and all suppliers have to comply with their cruelty-free criteria too . So far so good. The range has a lovely signature scent and the glossing detangler (spray on wet hair then your comb just glides through) really helps if you have tuggy hair after washing. Take it easy if you have fine hair, too much can weigh it down. Can you believe there's even a dog shampoo in the range? We love that idea!
Rhode - Hailey Bieber
Rhode skin, developed by Hailey Rhode Bieber delivers a simplified range of skincare that claims to improve the look of your skin, while creating a dewy, beautiful glow. Launched in 2022 the brand is vegan, cruelty free and certified by Leaping Bunny and PETA. Alongside the skincare range Rhode has also added peptide lip treatments, as well as lip and cheek tints to the range. There's lots to love about this brand, Not least the fabulous attention to detail in the product branding. At Sparks and Squeaks we all love the silicon bubble iphone case with a built-in area designed to hold your tip treatment or tint! Some are limited editions so if you like the idea jump in now. Yes the novelty might wear off as its quite chunky but its different, and we're all for that.
Rare Beauty - Selena Gomez
The Rare Beauty brand hit the markets in 2020 and is both vegan and cruelty free. Beyond its ethical standards the American singer/actor has also found a way to intertwine beauty products and mental health. Selena has been vocal about her own struggles with mental health in the past and her beauty brand is donating a portion of profilts to make mental health services more accessible for young people.
What about the products? The formulas are lightweight and bestsellers include blush, luminiser and their ever popular foundation which has a light, natural coverage. There's something for everyone with this brand and at very reasonable prices too.
Fenty Skin - Rihanna
Rihanna's Fenty brand includes Fenty Beauty, Fenty Hair, Fenty eau de parfum and Fenty Skin - quite the powerhouse of products! While all the products across the Fenty range are cruelty free there are a handful that are not vegan, however the Fenty Skin range is all vegan and cruelty free. The skincare range claims to give you smoother, brighter, and tighter-looking skin when used regularly, and with a clear eye for fashion and imagery the branding is, of course, on point!
Florence By Mills
Talking of powerhouses - Gen Z actor Milly Bobby Brown's beauty brand, Florence by Mills, includes makeup, skincare, fragrance, hair and fashion! Wow! Her mission for all of this is to build a brand that provides vegan, cruelty free, and affordable beauty products for young people - which comes across in the brand's aethetic.
